Is The Word “Impossible” Shattering Your Dreams?

At some point in our lives, almost every one of us have dreamed of being somebody special. How many times have you dreamed of being rich, or successful, or perfectly balanced in every area of our life?

Many of us have big dreams and great aspirations. I do. Do you?

Unfortunately, for many, dreams often remain just that – dreams.

Why?  Because they don’t ACT on their dreams.

So, what causes some of us to not take action?

Are we afraid to try and fail?  Are we afraid to try and succeed?

Quote H FordOr … do we doubt our ability or our capability?  Are there voices around us, or inside us telling us that our dream is impossible?

Because, if we believe it’s ‘impossible’, then it is.

To actually ACHIEVE your Dream you have to BELIEVE that it is POSSIBLE!

The word “impossible” is the biggest obstacle to ever achieving our dreams.

In fact, thinking our dream is “impossible” shatters our dream from EVER becoming reality.

Thank God not everyone thinks like that, or we would still be living without electricity, telephones, airplanes, space exploration, air conditioning, automobiles … you get the idea.

When the inventor dreamed of each of those inventions, everyone else thought it was impossible at the time. But the inventor didn’t give up on their dream. They took action. And with perseverance, determination, and unwavering vision, he or she was able to actually accomplish their “dreams.” And because of others who believe their dreams are POSSIBLE, we continue to be amazed daily with new innovations, inventions, and redesigns that change how we do almost everything.

Anything is Possible – if you Believe and take Action

So, you’re probably wondering how you can achieve your dream?

First, Know Your Dream. You must have a crystal clear vision of what it is. And Believe it with every fiber of your being. Know in your heart and mind that it is possible for you.

its possible byrne 2Then, Picture It. See it. Smell it. Taste it.  What does it feel like? See yourself living in that dream and see how others around you are also benefiting from you living your dream. Some people find it helpful to put together a vision board. A physical collage of pictures of your actual dreams – that car, that house, your child graduating from college, the vacation you’ve always wanted, the actual balance in your checking account.  Whatever it is, look at it several times a day and BELIEVE It Is POSSIBLE.

Then, Put a Plan Together to make it happen.  Will you start a new business, expand the one you currently have, get a better paying job, start a home business to generate a second income?  Figure out what it is that you need to do to get you to your dream.  Surround yourself with folks who are already where you want to be. They can help you take your life to the next level and help you put your plan together and then keep you on track to success.

Finally, Take MASSIVE Action. Knowing your dream and seeing it clearly isn’t enough. Neither will all the planning and strategy development.  You HAVE to Work at it – Relentlessly and with Determination and Perseverance.

Is Your Dream Significant?

Today’s Minute with Maxwell was so inspiring and challenging that I just HAVE to share it with you. Today’s message is exactly what “Living Your Dream” is all about!

It’s not just about what benefits I receive from it.

It’s about how what I am learning, and how my personal growth will help others find their dreams as well.

When I help myself, then I can help you. You can then help yourself so you can help others. And the “pass it on” that we begin will generate hope and excitement for the possibilities in ourselves and others.  And that becomes contagious. It begins to change us – and those around us – One person at a time.

Together we can truly Live Our Dreams in an incredible way.  One that makes a difference in our lives – and also in the lives of others.

Let me help coach you to success.

Living my Dream,

BelieveInYourDreams

Believe in Your Dreams!

Have you seen the movie “Miracle”? I just saw it again recently. What an inspiration – the Dream, the Vision, the Commitment, the Determination, the Spirit. Most of all, I loved the message: BELIEVE.

Believe in the possibilities of life. Believe in yourself. Believe that your dream, too, can come true.

Believe that you deserve to have the very best life has to offer. Believe in the wonderful giving nature of the Universe. Believe that the Universe wants you to have everything you desire.

Believe in miracles.

It all begins with a dream, a vision of excellence. Then focusing your attention on that vision until it becomes so clear that you can see it, feel it, taste it, touch it, smell it, know it. Along with that vision, taking the consistent actions with commitment and determination to bring your dreams into reality. And, then, expecting the miracles to happen.

Each person prepared themselves mentally, emotionally, physically, and spiritually. They didn’t let disappointments or challenges stand in their way. They were willing to do whatever it took to reach their dreams.

And the miracles happened….

Last week I watched the movie “Field of Dreams”. For some reason I was drawn to see it again, even though I’ve seen it many times before.

The tag line for the movie, which I hadn’t known before, is

If you believe the impossible, the incredible can come true.”

And incredible it was. Following the words he heard “If you build it, he will come” Kevin Costner’s character, Ray Kinsella, plowed under his cornfields to build a magnificent baseball field. He knew that Shoeless Joe Jackson was going to come. He expected the miracle.

I M PossibleAnd he waited. Sometimes I think we forget that miracles don’t always happen over night, that sometimes we have to wait for our dreams to come true. In spite of obstacles, financial difficulties, the doubts and disbelief that others expressed, Ray held on to his dream and was willing to take the actions he was guided to.

In the end, Ray’s own father was the one who came to the field so that Ray could have a “catch” with his Dad one more time. That precious moment that had been Ray’s true, underlying dream was finally fulfilled.

What if anything and everything was possible if we just believed and were willing to follow our passions?

This IS the time to believe in your dreams, to believe in the limitless possibilities of life, to believe in yourself, to believe in miracles.

Stop paying attention to the “What If’s” that have paralyzed you and killed your dreams in the past. Those are old beliefs grounded in lack and limitation thinking, what we call poverty consciousness. You don’t want them and you don’t need them.

Instead, choose to play a different game and consider this possibility: “If you believe the impossible, the incredible can come true.”

Here’s some steps you can take to believe:
1. First, believe in yourself. Celebrate all of the successes in your life – big and small. Endorse and encourage yourself with positive, loving, kind self-talk that reinforces your belief that you are a magnificent human being, deserving only the very best in life.
conceive-achieve napoleon hill 375x2502. Get in touch with your dream and your vision. Spend time each day focusing on your vision so that it expands and you can see it, feel it, taste it, touch it, smell it, know it.
3. Find a team that believes in you and will support you.
4. Set your goals and take the appropriate actions.
5. Expect miracles to happen every day of your life.
6. Know that you deserve them and that they’re happening for you!

How Big Is Your Dream?

I’ve been reading How Successful People Think by John Maxwell, and today’s chapter was talking about being a Possibility Thinker.

It gave me some incredible insight into how my thought processes reflect not only my belief in my dreams, but also got me thinking about the size of the dreams that I choose.

So I asked myself … How Big Is My Dream?

aim high michaelangeloTo be a true Possibility Thinker, I have to push past the naysayers, the pessimists, the “scaredy-cats,” and all the versions of them that run through my own mind. Then set my eyes and my mind on my dream and imagine all the possibilities.

The caveat to this, is that what I’m dreaming should – at least to the better part of the “normal” population – seem unreachable.  Because what’s the point of dreaming something that I am pretty darn sure that I can achieve?

Is that really even a “dream”?

I don’t think so.

To me, a dream needs to be “out there” and a little “pie in the sky” and maybe even considered downright impossible. (Giving my inner scaredy-cat a kick with this one.)  John Maxwell says,

“When you believe in the possibilities, you put yourself in a position to achieve them,”

So, if that’s true …

Why would I want a mediocre dream?  Isn’t it in my best interests to be dreaming of something incredible, something significant, something almost unattainable?

Dream Big NowMediocre won’t give me passion. Mediocre won’t challenge me to do more than I’ve done before. Mediocre won’t set me apart from the crowd.

Who the heck wants Mediocre ????

Give me Passion. Give me a Challenge. Give me the Power of an incredible dream that will fuel my days into action and generate change and ultimate success.

As Einstein said,

“The person with big dreams is more powerful than the one with all the facts.”

So today I want to challenge you to do what I did earlier today. Take a good hard look at your dream and ask yourself:

  • Is this something that I know I can achieve because I’ve done it before?
  • Is this something that I believe I can achieve it because it’s already in the works?

dream big 300If you answered “yes” to these questions – you need to upscale your dream!

Then ask yourself:

  • Is this something that gets me excited to start my day every day?
  • Is this something that requires me to do more and be more than I’ve ever done or been before?

If you answered “no” to these questions – you need to re-evaluate your dream. If you want to answer “yes” to those two questions, you need to find a dream that you are passionate about. Find something you love and that gives you joy and a purpose.

Having a really BIG dream gives you power. It gives you excitement and it energizes your life.

I don’t believe I would be motivated to live my dream, if it didn’t do all of that for me.

Could you?

I’d love to hear what you think about this.

11 Questions To Kickstart Your Dream

I’ve been talking about Living Your Dream for a while now and it occurred to me that you may need some help to actually discover and pinpoint exactly what your dream is.

So let’s go through 11 questions to help you not only realize your dream – but also give it a kickstart to get you moving toward what you really want.

The best way to begin is to write down the dreams that you have.

So grab a piece of paper and a pen – or open up a notepad on your device of choice – and start listing everything that you can imagine that you would really want. In my coaching classes, I recommend the Goal Setting Workshop by Tony Robbins which walks you through finding your goals in incredible detail.  If you’ve never done this exercise before – it’s invaluable.

Now that you have your goals in front of you – you’re ready to really begin to hone in and focus on your DREAM.

Ask yourself each of these 11 questions:

BeWhoGodMeant1. What’s your highest priority in this lifetime?
What’s most important for you to experience, explore or embrace this time around? Until you answer this question, your life goals will be off purpose. If you are not aligned with your inner passion, your intentions will lack the power to attract the people and situations necessary to become a reality. Get clued into what gives you true joy. What activities turned you on as a child? What are your hobbies now?

When your goals are aligned with your soul’s purpose, you will be automatically be drawn and guided toward your target. When you truly know and take ownership your talents and calling, assistance will flow to you from every earthly and heavenly source.

2. Is this your dream, or someone else’s?
Are your goals your own choice, or what others think you should strive for? As John Maxwell says in his book, Put Your Dream To The Test, “you can’t rent a dream from someone else. It has to be yours.” You need to have a dream that you will take ownership of, that you will care for, that you will engage in fully. Do you want to look back in your old age and wish you had followed your passion? Will you regret having “played it safe?” Maybe you feel it is selfish to go after your own dream. Ask yourself, what joy can you give to others if you haven’t given it to yourself first?

You need to listen to your heart in order to follow your dream. Only then can you fulfill your destiny and have your dream become reality.

believe in what you want so much 2503. Do you really, really want this dream?
Do you jump out of bed every morning excited to pursue your vision? Or is it a lukewarm dream you chase because it sounds meaningful? Are you passionate about this dream? Are you willing to do almost anything to achieve it?  Will you feel incomplete or unsatisfied until you finally have your dream?

Only the Real McCoy will generate enough energy to manifest itself in your life.

4. Are you settling for less?
Are you resigned to accepting less than your full share of love, health and success this lifetime? Have you been compromising, belittling or sacrificing your dream? Don’t!

Anything short of living your true passions will never make you happy. Don’t just live your life. LIVE it! Do you want to arrive at the Pearly Gates with the regret of not marrying that one captivating person, starting that fun business, or seeing that exotic part of the world you always wanted to visit?

5. Is your dream actually just part of another dream?
We’re looking for the big dreams here. So evaluate this: Is your dream the ultimate end in itself, or merely a piece of your ultimate dream? Isn’t it really a certain amount of money you want to make – not just that new car? Get to the heart of your dream. Isn’t it really a renewed sense of self-worth you desire, rather than the new car or house to impress the family and neighbors? And isn’t it really happiness you want, rather than the picture-perfect mate, job or body?

Focus on exactly the dream environment you want to create, not just the physical form that may – or may not – bring you that experience.

picture yourself Nightengale 26. What will you feel like when you reach your dream?
Personal passion fuels a vision. Dive into the thrill and exhilaration of that feeling of living your dream. Every moment you can, drink in the joy of having your dream. The Hawaiian Kahuna say, “Where your creative attention flows, so flows your life.” Is your daily attention feeding your dream? Are you doing something each and every day to fuel that dream?

It’s high time you manifested your aspirations. Dynamic, satisfying creations are nurtured with love and cared for like a flower in a garden.

7. How will you benefit from getting your dream?
Be very specific about the benefits you’ll receive from achieving your vision. Write down these pluses so they will sink in as motivators. What exactly would happen if you made a lot of money doing something you love? How would you approach your life differently if you allowed people to love and support you? What would you do with more vitality and health?

8. What steps can you take today toward your dream?
Don’t wait any longer. Set up supports and systems around you to instantly translate your intentions into action. Jump on every opportunity that is in line with your purpose and vision.
Keep the momentum going. No matter how hectic life gets, pledge to take at least one action a day. Even the smallest actions – such as jotting down a new idea, reading a single page, or making one phone call – can start to add up.

actionAre there smaller projects that lead to your larger dream that can give you pleasure in the meantime? If the dream is to run a marathon, train for a local fun-run first. And find a way to measure your progress. Track those little wins by writing in a journal or telling a friend. Start a blog and post your successes and achievements that will inspire others.

If you’re still a little stuck on finding your dream, these next few questions may help.

9. Are you telling yourself: “I can’t have my dream?”
Many people don’t believe they can live their dream. That mindset has to change in order to achieve your dream. Evaluate what has you believing you can’t make a living doing what they love, or what it is that is making you feel as if you don’t deserve your dream.

Challenge those assumptions – they will never allow you to ever reach your dreams!  Too often, people avoid the pain of feeling they can’t have their dream, or they keep their dream so buried they can’t remember ever having a dream. It’s time to do some digging and unearth those dreams.

Everyone has a dream! And everyone is destined to fulfill that purpose. Don’t wait any longer.

10. Are you afraid of getting your dream?
Actually getting your dream can be really frightening! Of course, realizing your dream is only threatening to those assumptions that you have right now.  As you work on changing your mindset, you will not fear what your dream will bring. It’s your current self and the life you know and feel comfortable in that has gotten you to where you are right now. If you want to get somewhere else – to something more – you need to use different thinking than you have been.

Change is scary. Find a way to move through the energy of fear. The only way to avoid feeling fear is to avoid living altogether! And that kind of thinking won’t help you to start living your dream.

The final question is the most important of all.

11. Do you really need to accomplish your dream?
How bad do you really want this? I mean really – how bad do you want this? Re-evaluate your answers to question number 3. Tweak them. Envision them. Feel them. Then take action. Do something with what you’ve learned here.

Here’s your challenge for today:

Write your dreams down and read them every morning and every night. Create a dream board and put up photos of what your dreams look like. Do something today – and then each and every day – that will move you closer to your dream.

And never, never, never give up.

You can do this!  I believe in you.

Thirty Minutes Will Save Your Dream

If you’ve got a dream you’re intent on pursuing, chances are you’re going to bog down at some point.

That’s just the way dreams are.

But, don’t despair!

These moments are actually good for your dream, because they force you to stop and rethink your approach if you want to continue.

That’s the only way you can find the footing to continue, and in that process, you’re forced to learn and grow.

I’ve found a way to head off many of those “stalls” … I visualize.

visualizeAnd I set aside 30 minutes with no interruptions every day to visualize my dream.

I’ve found that nothing can turn my mind around as effectively as visualizing.

Visualizing your dream can create hope were there was none, clarity in a space of confusion, and immeasurable inspiration.

Our minds and the power we have to to mentally visualize our own reality has been compared to a gold mine. Earl Nightengale says that visualizing will connect us with deep inner truths that most of us simply can’t tap into consciously.

“Picture yourself in your minds eye as having already achieved this goal. See yourself doing the things you’ll be doing when you’ve reached your goal.”

So basically, visualizing is digging deep into our heart and mind so that we can look clearly at what we want. See it. Feel it. Taste it. What does it smell like? Look at how it is impacting your life and those around you.

It takes a little practice to really do this. Our minds have been taught to focus on “reality” and if you’re anything like me and most of the world, it may take some time for you to get comfortable with thinking and visualizing what seems impossible.

Visualize the ImpossibleBut it’s worth the effort.

Because visualizing gives us permission to dream. We are able to vividly see ourselves living a different life, feeling the feelings, smelling the smells, and owning the power. We see a higher, truer aspect of ourselves, and in that instant, understand how unstoppable we really can be.

It lets us see ourselves leading a life of power and abundance and allows us to acknowledge that we really can do whatever we dream about. We are able to see how much impact we can have, and how much we can actually accomplish by pursuing our dream.

You can truly begin to change your life by spending 30 minutes a day visualizing your dream.

As Earl Nightengale says, “We become what we think about.”

DreamItDoItDisney2 The way to make your dream a reality is to then take action. Dreaming alone will not bring you success.

So here’s the challenge for today.  Take 30 minutes today without any distractions and visualize your dream.

Then take an action step to make your dream a reality. Do this for the next 7 days. Then do it for another 7 days.

Evaluate what’s been happening over the past two weeks – Your life is getting better isn’t it ?

I thought so …

4 Steps To Creating A Better Future

You want to begin living your dream, but you’re just not sure how to begin.

Here are four simple steps to begin creating a better future.

Step 1: Take inventory.

Creating a vision for yourself and your life first requires you to ask yourself “what it is that gives my life meaning, purpose, and joy?”

Look to your talents. Look to your abilities. What makes you smile the instant you think of doing it? It is not difficult to determine what your special ability, gift or interest is. Simply ask yourself: “What do I look forward to more than anything else in the world?”

whats your dreamStep 2: Tap into your imagination.

Now that you have decided to take action by creating a list of your talents, interests, and joy activities, it is time to form a vision around them.

You do this by doing what every child on earth has the power to do at will: Simply use your imagination to create your reality! Start dreaming of all of the ways in which you can spend your time doing what you love. Do not worry about making sense at this stage, just dream as if you were a child again.

Step 3: Set your goals.

Once you have decided what you want to do to create a better life for yourself by developing a vision, the next step is to set goals that will serve as stepping stones toward fulfillment of your vision.
Goals-Succeed-Nightingale

You can start setting these goals by asking yourself questions like: What do I want to accomplish in my life? What kind of legacy do I want to leave behind? What would I do if I had all of the money in the world? Make sure your short term goals are realistic and the rest – big! Be clear, meaningful, well defined, and make sure your goals EXCITE you!

Step 4: Enjoy the journey and pay attention.

As you begin each new day, always keep in mind everything that you have written down and envisioned for your better future. You may not have the means to immediately jump into your goals and plans. But, you can still start working towards a new reality by thinking of the outcomes and moving one step at a time toward your dream.

Of course you may still have to go to work in the job that you would rather not have, deal with some problems, and do the things you must do that you would rather not be doing, etc. However, your job now is to do them with vigor, with excitement, “knowing” that your future will change according to your vision as soon as you begin taking action.

I know you can do this.

Living Your Dream … One Step At A Time

No matter how ambitious your dream, you CAN achieve it. You do it by taking one step at a time.

Here are a 5 simple steps to help you:

1. Visualize Your Dream: The first step is to create a mental picture of your goal. Get very clear on what you want. Are you gaining a new skill? Hitting a new revenue goal? Landing a new important client? See and feel it.

2. Define Your Dream: Be very precise and write your dream down. Outline how much and by when. Add in specific information and resources (money, marketing materials, software, etc.) you will need to acquire to achieve your dream.

3. Post It: Put a copy of your written dream – or better yet, an actual picture of your dream – in a place you can easily see it: next to your desk, on your mirror, in your wallet… Read it or look at it several times throughout each day.

4. Find or Ask For Support: Who can help you achieve your dream? Who are your cheerleaders? List the people and companies you will need to contact for assistance.

Act Dream Plan Believe5. Make a Plan: When a dream seems too big, we tend to procrastinate because it is too overwhelming. Breaking it down and focusing on one piece at a time makes large dreams more attainable. Develop a series of action steps with dates attached. As you finish each task, check it off and acknowledge yourself.

That’s it — five simple steps to achieve anything.

As you move along, enjoy the journey.

You are learning, growing, and accomplishing. Take time to appreciate your progress.

Living your dream does not happen by accident. It is a series of intentional small steps, proper planning, and a stubborn commitment to make it happen.

Here’s your challenge for today!  Take Action to start Living Your Dream

ACTION STEP: You can begin right now! What do you really want to achieve? Write down your dream. You CAN do it!

we become what we think about Nightengale

What Do You Think?

Have you noticed how seldom you are asked “what do you think?”

I know I am usually bombarded with advertisements and emails that tell me what I should think.  Rarely do they ask me what I think.

I’m reading an incredible book by John Maxwell entitled, “How Successful People Think.” It is an inspiration and a challenge to me to not only ask myself “what do you think,” but also to look at how I think.

Maxwell states that truly successful people set aside time to think.

Without proper time invested in thinking, dreaming, rethinking, mentally designing and evaluating, we won’t be able to generate new ideas effectively.

And I believe this is especially true for entrepreneurs like you and me.

ChangeYrThoughtsWe need to spend a little time each week just thinking. Working mentally on new ideas, enhancements for things we have in the works, reinventions of what isn’t working.

If I Change My Thinking … I can Change My Life!

Everyone is talking these days about mindset – and don’t get me wrong – I believe that our mindset is critical! It’s the foundation for everything.

But I’ve been challenged by Maxwell to spend time thinking. To train my mind to generate and evaluate possibilities. And my attitude and mindset is the basis of how these possibilities will be presented to me.

If I’m determined to Live My Dream – and I am – I must dream and think productively about what that life is, and then take action to make it happen. My thoughts will become things, but nothing will happen for me unless I think it and then do it.

I don’t know about you, but if my mindset and my thoughts create my world, then I need  to be proactive and productive when it comes to my thinking.

As Eddie Rickenbacker, WW1 flying ace, said, “Think things through – then follow through.”

In my business of coaching, training, and motivation, it’s critical that I am constantly learning and challenging myself. It’s what keeps me growing as a person, and gives me new perspectives to enhance my interaction with students, clients and others. My goal is to pass on what I’m learning and help myself and others to do something more, something better, that will take all of us to where we are each living our dream.

My plan for today is to set aside some time to just think and dream. I’m going to set up my “thinking place” (as Maxwell calls it), where I will go to spend quality “mental time” with my thoughts and dreams.

So … Let me ask you again …

What Do You Think?

Let me challenge you to answer that question and then take specific steps to positively impact your mindset. Then, use your mindset to generate ideas and dreams that will get you to your dream.

I know we can do this.

Have a beautiful day!

Living my Dream,

Lori
